BORIS Johnson promised the UK’s “world beating” Coronavirus track and trace operation WILL be in place from June 1st.
The PM stressed today that it would enable the UK to change lockdown rules – if the scientific advice said it was safe to do so.
During a clash with Labour’s Sir Keir Starmer this lunchtime, he said: “Today I am confident that we will have a test and trace operation that will enable us, if the other conditions are satisfied, that will enable us to make progress.
“Already we have recruited 24,000 trackers. By June 1 we will have 25000…
“They will be capable of tracking the contacts of 10,000 new cases per day.
“I should remind him, today the new cases stand at 2400.
“We are making vast progress in testing and tracing.
“I have great confidence by June 1 we will have a system that will enable us and enable us to greatly defeat this disease and move the country forward.”
