There will be 12,000 fewer collectors on our streets raising money for veterans and their families and with cash not so covid secure, HOAR has been urging readers to buy a donate online, buy a poppy in a supermarket or go on a fundraising run.

It is vital every poppy counts, and we want to help the Legion raise £50million.

The PM bought a poppy from Royal Navy’s AB (Writer) Laura Chisholm, the Royal Air Force’s Flt Lt Ollie Smith and the Army’s SSgt Ilaitia Vuki.

The PM said: “We mustn’t let these difficult times stop us from doing proper honour to the memory of those who gave their lives for our freedom and our safety in the wars that have gone by.

“Although, alas, we won’t see as many poppy sellers out on the streets this year as we do every year, I hope that nonetheless, you’ll make up for that and make sure that you buy a poppy this year, whether online or at the supermarket.

“And always remember the proceeds go to support the families of those who have given so much for our freedom and this for this country.

“So remember every poppy counts.”
