JEREMY Corbyn has made a “laughable” claim to sort out Brexit in just six months with a second referendum – as he kicks off his campaign launch this morning.

The leftie boss will try to hit the ground running with a campaign rally in Battersea, South London.

Jeremy Corbyn will launch his campaign today

On Brexit, he will vow to get everything sorted in just six months, despite politicians having debated Brexit for more than three and a half years.

Mr Corbyn tweeted earlier: “Boris Johnson has spent months promising we’d leave the EU today.

“The failure to do so is his and his alone.

“Labour will get Brexit sorted by giving the people the final say within six months with the choice of a credible leave deal or remain. And we’ll carry out what you decide.”

Tories immediately came out to blast Mr Corbyn’s claims as completely undeliverable.

James Cleverly MP, Chairman of the Conservative Party, said: today: “This is a laughable claim. He promised to honour the first referendum result and then did precisely the opposite.

“Corbyns second referendum would mean years more of dither, division and delay.

“Only a vote for Boris Johnson and the Conservatives will get Brexit done so we can get on with investing more in our NHS, getting more police on our streets and improving every one of our schools.”

The PM will today tell voters they must back him or face a “nightmare on Downing Street” of Jeremy Corbyn.

As the election starting gun was fired today:

  • Brexit Party boss Nigel Farage gave the PMa final 24 hoursto decide on an electoral pact with him;
  • Tory Cabinet ministers privately warned they fear the election will result in ahung Parliament;
  • Up to four axed Tory MPs could run against Conservative candidates in a blow to the partys majority hopes;
  • Mr Johnson warned the Cabinet that his ownUxbridge seat is at riskfrom a Labour surge in December;
  • A row over TV debates erupted as Mr Corbyn challenged the PM to an on-air joust but Lib Dem bossJo Swinsoninsisted she must be allowed to take part.

Mr Corbyn will also aim at the corrupt system and billionaire elites, saying the December 12 poll is the “once-in-a-generation” chance to change Britain and “take on the vested interests holding people back”.

He will single out business leaders and landowners as on the wrong side of a “rigged system.

He will vow to take on the elite because we know whose side were on.

Mr Corbyn will say: You know what really scares the elite?

What theyre actually afraid of is paying their taxes. So in this election theyll fight harder and dirtier than ever before.

Speaker Bercow will leave his role today after ten years in the role.

He’s been posing for snaps this morning to mark his last day.

Remainer MPs will miss him dearly for allowing MPs to repeatedly scupper the Government’s Brexit plans.

But Brexiteers will be all too happy to see the back of him.
