Mr Rees-Mogg, the Leader of the Commons said today he was still waiting for their test results from the weekend.

He said earlier: “One of my children was tested for COVID-19 last weekend after displaying symptoms.

“In accordance with government guidance, the household has been in self-isolation while we await the test result.”

Deputy chief whip Stuart Andrew had to take his place instead today.

Mr Andrew told the Commons: “A member of the Leader of the House’s household is awaiting a Covid test result after having been symptomatic. The leader is therefore self-isolating along with his family.”

MPs from across the political spectrum sent the family their best wishes.

Labour MP Chris Bryant tweeted: “I wish you all well.”

And Wes Streeting added: “and so say all of us”.

Several other ministers have been struck down with coronavirus or forced to isolate because of concerns they may have it.

Most recently Michael Gove was forced to stay home over fears his daughter could have the killer bug.

But when her test came back negative he was able to come out of isolation and was snapped going for a jog.
