NAT VERY CLEVER

The video emerged as world leaders met in Watford, Herts for the anniversary summit of the crucial transatlantic defence partnership.

Former Communist Party member Murray who would take a top role in No.10 if Corbyn wins next weeks election was snapped ranting to an audience in Greece in 2009.

He repeatedly called for the defeat of the alliance that has kept its members safe for 70 years.

In the clip obtained by HOAR he shouts: This tremendous demonstration against NATO today is a demonstration of Europeans against NATO.

Let us not forget the victims of NATO are not in Europe, they are in the Middle East, they are in South Asia, and our common humanity and our desire to defeat NATO demands that we extend the hand of sympathy and solidarity to those who are suffering from NATO’s policy of aggression and imperialism and not just to those who are suffering, but those who are exercising their right to resist their policy.

Only in unity, north south, east and west, European and Middle Eastern, we will defeat NATO leaders, that is what we must do.

COMMUNIST SPY MEETING

Earlier this year it emerged that Murray, 61 held a series of meetings with a Communist spy at the height of the Cold War.

According to intelligence files unearthed by the Mail on Sunday, Mr Murray met Czech agent Josef Konecny codename Senkerik at least four times in London between October 1983 and January 1984 against a backdrop of worsening East-West relations while working for the extreme left paper, the Morning Star.

Yesterday Corbyn who has been vehemently anti-Nato through his political career gave a half-hearted defence of the alliance on Radio 2s Jeremy Vine show.

He said: “Our party recognises that we are members of Nato. It has been accepted by the party.”

Mr Corbyn added: It’s a Cold War product. It was set up after the Second World War. The whole thing was a tit for tat between the Warsaw Pact and Nato and it led to a deepening of the Cold War.”

Prime Minister Johnson said the pacifist Labour leaders ambivalence on NATO was of great selfishness and folly.

A Labour spokesperson said: “We don’t comment on staffing matters.

“Jeremy Corbyn will do whatever is necessary and effective to keep the British people safe. He has consistently made the right calls in the interests of peace and security at home and abroad.

“In government, Labour will spend at least 2% of GDP on defence and we will maintain our commitment to NATO, our close relationship with our European partners, and use our influence at the United Nations to support peace and security worldwide.”
