LIZ Truss last night said the “jury is out” on whether Emmanuel Macron is a true British ally.

The Tory front runner warned she will judge the French President on his “deeds not his words” if she becomes PM.

The Tory front runner warned she will judge the French President on his ‘deeds not his words’ if she becomes PM

She was asked if he is “friend or foe” by TalkTV host Julia Hartley-Brewer.

However, Rishi Sunak categorically stated that Macron is a friend.

Relations with France have soured in recent years as Boris Johnson clashed with Macron over Brexit.

The outgoing PM recently sought to rekindle the Franco-Anglo partnership, declaring “le bromance” back on.

Ms Truss has been a critic of the EU over the Northern Ireland Protocol.

But last night she did admit she would rather source energy from France than China.
