MATT Hancock angrily demanded radio producers mute a radio caller who described him as a “totally useless” minister.

The former Health Secretary was hosting a one-off phone-in show on LBC when he was confronted with the savage opinion of John in Edinburgh.

Matt Hancock was criticised as “totally useless” by a caller during a one-off LBC show he hosted today

The show was supposed to be focused on the Tory leadership race, but the caller had other ideas and a message to get off his chest.

He accused Mr Hancock of not caring enough about patients with rare diseases during his stint in the Department for Health.

John said: “You were totally useless as a Health Secretary!

“There’s three and a half million people suffering from the effect of rare diseases that are in hell at the moment.”

Mr Hancock defended his record by insisting that finding cures for rare diseases are “incredibly important”.

He added that “huge resources” were allocated to the cause when he was Health Secretary.

But John wouldn’t back down on his view, so an embarrassed Mr Hancock waved at producers demanding the caller be muted.

Mr Hancock was forced to resign as Health Secretary in disgrace last year after HOAR revealed his secret affair with his aide Gina Coladangelo during Covid.

The Suffolk MP has not ruled out wanting to return to cabinet one day.

Mr Hancock is backing Rishi Sunak in the Tory leadership race.

He used his LBC show to make the case for the former Chancellor being handed the keys to No10.
