And her dad Sir Lindsay last night broke down as he thanked his family – but that one member was missing.

He said: “There’s one difficult part I want to get over. There is one person who is not here.

“My daughter Natalie. I wish she’d have been here. “We all miss her as a family. None more so than her mum, Miriam.

“I’ve got to say, she was everything to all of us.

“She will always be missed, but she will always be in our thoughts.”

An Essex Coroner had last year heard how the young parish councillor had been found dead on December 15 after receiving “distressing phone calls”

During the inquest into her death, Natalie’s family said she had been involved in a coercive relationship plagued by “gas lighting“.

The inquest recorded an open verdict.

HOYLE’S NEW ORDER

Labour’s Sir Lindsay replaces divisive former Speaker John Bercow, who finally quit the powerful post last week after a decade in the seat.

Sir Lindsay, who in contrast toMr Bercowis popular with MPs from across the Commons, will now have to resign as a Labour MP to take up the impartial post. He beat off six other MPs in four rounds of voting in the Commons yesterday.

Taking up the powerful seat for the first time as Speaker, Sir Lindsay said: I stand by what I said.

“I stand firm, that I hope this House will be once a great respected House, not just in here but across the world.

He added: Its the envy and weve got to make sure that tarnish is polished away, that the respect and tolerance that we expect from everyone who works in here will be shown and well keep that in order.

Sir Lindsay was the odds-on favourite to win the post and was the most experienced candidate having served as Mr Bercows Speaker for nine of the former Speakers ten years in the chair.

In the final round of voting Sir Lindsay beat fellowLabour MP Chris Bryant by 325 votes to 213.

Boris Johnson was the first MP tocongratulate him in the Commons.
