PUPILS are likely to be told in advance what their exams will cover.
Their schools will be tipped off by exam boards about topics in the 2021 papers, it is proposed.
They would then pass it on to GCSE and A-level students.
Individuals or even entire classes most disrupted by the pandemic could also be given grades with asterisks, as a signal to universities to give them the benefit of the doubt when considering applications.
A Whitehall source told HOARday Telegraph that ministers, exam boards and regulator Ofqual had “come up with a package to compensate kids who have been self-isolating”.
Some universities have already brought down entry requirements to cushion the blow to students.
Prof Lee Major said: “The danger for many disadvantaged pupils is that in missing out on a grade, they suffer permanent educational scarring — long-lasting negative impacts on their life prospects.
“This reform would make for a fairer system for many of our most vulnerable pupils.”
Next year’s GCSEs have already been scrapped in Scotland and Wales.
