TEACHERS are to strike for another three days in a row in June or July – causing exam chaos for thousands of pupils.

Reps at the militant National Education Union voted again for yet more walk-outs over the summer – which could then go on until CHRISTMAS.

Teachers are set to strike next weekTeachers will ballot to strike until Christmas in a bid to ramp up their pay campaign

That is on top of the two days already announced – April 27 and May 2 – after they rejected ministers’ pay offers.

The new strike dates could cause hell for thousands sitting exams in May and June – with final exams of the season not until the end of that month.

The news is another huge blow to parents who will be forced to stay home to look after their kids yet again.

On a turnout of 66 per cent, NEU members voted by an overwhelming 98 per cent to reject the latest pay offer.

The deal included a 4.3 per cent salary hike for 2024, alongside a £1,000 cash bonus this year – but most teachers voted it down.

Ministers say they are giving schools £2.3bn over the next two years.

Kevin Courtney, the NEU’s joint general secretary, said: “As this education secretary appears not to care about the run-down and demoralised education system, the NEU will be stepping up our campaign for fair pay for teachers.

“In the run up to local elections this May and an expected general election next year the NEU will be calling on candidates and elected politicians to stand up for education in their local communities.

“If the government does not resolve the current pay dispute the NEU will re-ballot members for a renewed mandate for further industrial action in the next academic year.”

A DfE spokesperson said: “After costing children almost a week of time in the classroom and with exams fast approaching, it is unforgiveable that the NEU are re-balloting for more strike action up until Christmas this year.”
