Kate Osborne MP has tested positive for coronavirus

She tweeted earlier today: “I have been diagnosed with Coronavirus (#covidー19uk) following a period of self isolation and subsequent testing.

“I will continue to self isolate until I have fought off the illness, but in the mean time I would encourage everyone to band together and support the most vulnerable in our communities.”

The MP for Jarrow told followers to stay at home for seven days if they have a high temperature or a new cough, after Government advice was ramped up last week.

But she stressed her office was still open if anyone needed help, and urged constituents to contact her staff instead.

It comes just a week after Health Minister Nadine Dorries revealed she had caught it – the first MP in Westminster to test positive.

She also revealed she had given it to her elderly mum too.
