Based out of Scotland Yard, the elite team would be dedicated solely to stopping burglaries in London.

Announcing the policy, the mayoral candidate said: In spite of clear warnings, he has squandered our resources on his own press officers instead of much-needed police officers.

Burglaries are a violation – an invasion of the home, the theft and destruction of property, and the lasting effect can trouble victims for years beyond the incident.

“Which is why I am committed to creating a Burglary flying squad – a dedicated team of experts to help tackle and reduce burglary in London.

The Burglary Flying Squad will initially comprise 150 detectives and will come from the additional 2,300 officers Shaun has already pledged to fund by cutting waste at City Hall.

Mr Bailey claims since Khan took office in 2016, some boroughs have seen up to and including a 50 per cent spike in burglaries.

Since 2017 Merseyside has seen a 24 per cent decrease and Northumbria an 11 per cent decrease.

Whereas London has seen a 5 per cent increase in burglaries despite England experiencing a 4 per cent decrease.

The specialist squad would also aim to reduce the number of break-ins by advising borough commands on burglary prevention, incident investigation and how to track gangs across the city.
