Tory MP Sir Geoffrey Cox used taxpayer loan to cover London flat deposit

EMBATTLED Tory MP Sir Geoffrey was mired in more sleaze as it emerged he took out a taxpayer loan to cover the deposit on a London flat.

The multi-millionaire barrister was handed £3,900 from Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) in 2017 – and he has still not paid it back.

Geoffrey has been claiming £1,900 a month on expenses for the rented flat in the capital

And he’s been claiming £1,900 a month on expenses for the rented flat in the capital.

But shockingly owns a different flat in Battersea, south London, which he rents out for around £1,000 a week.

However there is no suggestion that he’s breaking any rules.

A spokeswoman for the MP said: “Sir Geoffrey has acted at all times within the rules set by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority.”
