Other new heroes with streets in their honour include the Snake Island border guard Roman Hrybov.

The council said: “Roman Hrybov is a Ukrainian hero and marine who became the author of a cult phrase, which was even immortalized on a postage stamp.

“This slogan set the pace for the defense of our country, showed the fearlessness and courage of our soldiers, even in the face of the overwhelming force.”

Ukraine’s Army of volunteers will get a Volunteer Street in their honour.

The council said: “Ukraine has always been proud of its people who are ready to help those in need.

“The aggression of the Russian Federation in February 2022 reaffirmed that volunteers play a key role in our victory.”

Volunteer St was previously known as Vatutin after Soviet WW2 general who fought against Ukraine’s independence.
