WITH a general election fast approaching on December 12, it’s time to figure out where you’re headed to cast your vote in just a few weeks.

Where is my polling station and how do I find it?
Polling stations will open from 7 am to 10 pm on Thursday, December 12.
If you opt to vote at a polling station – rather than by post – you need to ensure you’re over 18 and registered to vote.
Your local polling station is usually a public building or local hall.
You’ll be sent a poll card before an election with details of when and where to vote.
It will have the address of your local polling station on it – you can only vote at the address detailed on your poll card.
You don’t need to bring your poll card with you but it helps – although you can still vote if you’ve lost your card.
How do I vote at the polling station?
When you get to the polling station, give your name and address to the staff.
You’ll be given a ballot paper with a list of options for whom you can cast your vault.
If you live in Northern Ireland you’ll need to take ID with you – for instance, a passport, driving license,
Electoral Identity Card or certain kinds of Translink Smartpass.
How can I register to vote?
You can register to vote online on thegovernment’s website.
You will need to know your National Insurance number, date of birth and address.
The process will take about five to 10 minutes.
It is also possible to register by post by filling ina paper form, but if you live in Northern Irelanda different form is used.
How do I register for a postal vote?
You don’t need a reason to apply fora postal votein England, Scotland and Wales.
If you are voting in Northern Ireland then you will haveto provide one.
Postal vote applicationforms must be returned by 5pm, 11 working days before the poll.
If you are not already registered to vote, your application to register must reach the electoral registration office by midnight, 12 working days before the poll.
