Not every MP will be standing the election, including some senior politicians. Here’s the latest.
Who among the Conservatives is standing down?
Sir Nicholas Soames, the MP for Mid Sussex and the grandson of Sir Winston Churchill, was among those kicked out of the party by Mr Johnson and later welcomed back.
He has said he will stand down.
The other rebels who were brought back into the fold and are also standing down are Alistair Burt (North East Bedfordshire), Richard Harrington (Watford), Richard Benyon (Newbury).
Sir Michael Fallon, the former defence secretary, is standing down after serving as the MP for Sevenoaks since 1997.
David Lidington, the MP for Aylesbury and de-facto deputy PM under Theresa May, said he was standing down so he can spend more time with his family while he is “still in active and good health”.
Nicky Morgan, the MP for Loughborough and the current culture secretary, decided she would not stand in the next election saying there had been a “clear impact” on her family and “the other sacrifices involved in and the abuse for doing the job of a modern MP”.

Who among the Labour Party is standing down?
Two Labour MPs who voted for Theresa May’s Brexit Deal at some stage are standing down.
Jim Fitzparick, the MP for Poplar and Limehouse, and Sir Kevin Barron, the MP for Rother Valley, will not seek reelection.
Kate Hoey, the MP for Vauxhall, is one of the Labour MPs how supported leave in the 2016 referendum and is also standing down.

Who among the Liberal Democrats is standing down?
Sir Vince Cable, the MP for Twickenham and the former party leader, is standing down.
Sir Norman Lamb, the MP for North Norfolk, said he is leaving Westminster to set up a fund for people with mental health issues and learning disabilities.
Heidi Allen, the MP for Cambridgeshire South, only joined the party four weeks ago after leaving the Tory party and Change UK – she will not see reelection.
Who among the Independents are standing down?
Ken Clarke, has served his Rishcliffe constituency for almost half a century, making him the longest serving MP in the House of Commons.
He is known as the father of the House and was expelled by Mr Johnson after rebelling over Brexit.
Mr Clarke is not seeking reelection.
Justine Greening, the MP for Putney, served as the former education secretary was also one of the Brexit rebels who will not stand in the election.
Rory Stewart, the MP for Penrith and the Border, will not seek reelection as he is trying to beat Sadiq Khan in next year’s London mayoral election, as an independent candidate.
Amber Rudd, the Mp for Hastings and Rye, was the former home, work and pensions secretary and surrendering the Tory whip over Brexit in September.
Guto Bebb, the MP for Aberconwy, and Sir Oliver Letwin, the MP for West Dorset, are unable to stand as Conservative candidate as he is one of the rebels Mr Johnson did not let back into the party.
When is the General Election?
On October 29, MPs approved the PM’s call for an election to be held on December 12.
It was Mr Johnson’s fourth attempt to have Parliament agree to have an election after the Labour Party finally blocked the vote three times.
Parliament will shut down from November 6.
When this happens every seat in the House of Commons becomes vacant with those wishing to remain as MPs having to stand in the forthcoming election.
