SORRY lads, but that moaning between the sheets isn’t always because of you.

More than half of us are said to fantasise about having sex with someone else, while we make love with our partners – and often it’s a celebrity.

Fantasising about Boris could indicate more than a love of messy blond hair

More than six out of ten women and just over half of men have confessed to thinking about someone else, according to a new survey by a dating site.

“Sexual fantasies for us women are all about our subconscious knocking on our door and reminding us of the types of men and sex we’d like to have” says sex and intimacy coach Camilla Constance.

“Sexually fantasising about famous men while we’re making love to our other half shouldn’t be taken seriously either.”

So what does your celeb fantasies really say about you?

“Any psychological fantasy is made up of a combination of two basic elements,” says psychologist Daniel Sher, of the Between Us Clinic.

“First, what does this celebrity represent in popular culture?

“Second, what does this celebrity mean to you, on a personal and subjective level?

“By exploring these two questions you can get a bit more insight about the meaning of this particular fantasy for you.”

Here, a range of experts reveal just what your fantasies might mean.

Brad Pitt: Need to feel good about yourself

Brad has the chiselled features and a sensitive side that appeals to women

Brad is seen as both masculine but with a strong sensitive side, so it’s no surprise he appears in the list of the top five men that women fantasise about.

He’s also had relationships with some of the world’s most famous women which may also reflect your secret desire for more status among your peers.

Social psychologist Justin Lehmiller, author of Tell Me What You Want: The Science of Sexual Desire and How It Can Help You Improve Your Sex Life, says: “The mental image of an attractive, high-status person finding you to be sexually irresistible can make you feel good about yourself.”

Boris Johnson: Likes BDSM

Fantasies about the PM or military men means you yearn to be submissive

That messy hair might not make Boris the most obvious fantasy sex partner, but psychologists say politicians often make an appearance in women’s sexual day-dreams thanks to the power dynamic.

Justin Lehmiller says people who are turned on by the thoughts of politicians tend to have more BDSM fantasies.

He says: “Fantasies about a Prime Minister or military official might reflect a desire to sexually submit to someone with high status and power.”

Simon Cowell: In a relationship rut

Fantasies about Simon Cowell could mean you’re bored

Simon is known as the ultimate judge with the power to make or break you.

It may mean you are yearning to be accepted by someone whose opinion is important.

Dream expert Theresa Cheung, author of The Dream Dictionary from A to Z: The Ultimate A-Z to Interpret the Secrets of Your Dreams, says Simon might represent you are stuck in a rut in a relationship.

She says: “With Simon, it feels like he has been trapped at the height of his fame, unable to move on on the same TV show.”

Prince Harry: Values support

Harry’s willingness to sacrifice everything for love makes him a modern day Prince Charming

It’s not just the fact that many women still love the idea of Prince Charming that may lead your mind to wander to raunchy thoughts of Prince Harry.

It may also be the fact that he has been prepared to give up everything – even his place in the royal family – for love.

Psychologist Natasha Tiwari, of natashatiwari.co.uk says: “The way in which Harry gave up his family to follow a new path with his wife, appeals to those who have a desire for a partner to be 1000 per cent beside them.”

Idris Elba: Wants to be protected

Idris is strong and protective but attainable in the eyes of fans

Luther star Idris is likely to be the object to female fantasies because he is rough and ready with a street-smart swagger combined with a touch of Hollywood.

Idris hit the headlines in March for being among the first celebrities to come out and say he was placing himself in quarantine for Covid-19, prompting many women to wonder what it might be like to isolate with him…

Marilyn says: “Because of Idris’ down-to-earth nature, and a penchant for visiting his old haunts and London estates, he almost seems attainable, as though you could be out doing your weekly grocery shop and run into him.

“There’s a kind of raw sexuality about Idris, and where you feel as though he could be both sensual, take charge, and be a fierce protector.”

Scarlett Johansson: Drawn to beauty

And what about if your man’s thoughts are wandering during sex…

According to Justin’s research, Scarlett Johansson is the top female celebrity that men fantasise about.

Scarlett’s perfectly symmetrical face and hour-glass figure certainly help.

The hour glass figure makes Scarlett Johansson a man magnet

Justin says: “In study after study, this hour-glass is the body shape that men are most drawn to.

“Specifically, when men are asked to rate the attractiveness of women with various body types, the women they find to be most attractive have a waist‑to‑hip ratio of 0.7, meaning their waists are 70 per cent the width of their hips.

“What’s Scarlett Johansson’s waist‑to‑hip ratio? You guessed it—almost exactly 0.7.”

Kim Kardashian: Seeking adventure

Kim Kardashian is proud of her curves and sends primal messages

It’s hard for most men to forget Kim shot to fame in a porn tape in which she seemed to love sex.

The fact she is also proud of her big bottom – and prepared to put it on show also sends some very primal messages, say experts.

Marilyn Devonish says: “Confident, sexy, with curves in all the right places, Kim looks like she is open to anything with the right partner – which in fantasyland could be you.

“She looks like a woman who won’t just tell you what she wants, she’ll show you – including a few moves you’ve never seen or heard of.”

Holly Willoughby: Looking for a perfect wife and mother

Holly Willoughby is seen as a great role model with beauty and elegance

Likeable Holly Willoughby offers the perfect girl next door attributes – with a cheeky side.

The This Morning host is often seen as a great role model, but we all know she likes a drink or two as well so certainly has two sides to her persona.

Psychologist Natasha Tiwari says that Holly “embodies the archetype of the classically perfect woman; easy to get along with, personable and loved by many, and to top it off, beautiful and elegant.”

Victoria Beckham: Desire to be controlled

Victoria’s power means she is seen as a dominatrix with a softer side

A man who dreams of Victoria will be attracted to her controlled persona.

As with other successful women like Lady Gaga, therapist Marilyn says: “With Victoria, it’s the dominatrix.

“There’s a softer side, and you can also imagine her in the Spice Girls black lurex catsuit donning a whip and directing you with one glance to your next position.

“She’s also a woman of power. She doesn’t wield it in a blatant way however she has built a solid global business which means if she wants you, it’s not because she ‘needs’ a man.

“The fantasy of a power shift can be alluring.”

Beyonce: Desires confidence

Beyonce oozes sexuality and confidence, but is out of reach

If your man fantasises about Beyonce, he could be a confident type who is sexually drawn to a woman who is the whole package – and whose confidence shines through.

Marilyn says: “There is an almost regal element to Beyonce where a man knows he could never have her, yet there’s nothing like a good dose of unrequited love to get the juices flowing.

“Beyonce is strong, focused, beautiful, multi-talented, astute business woman, great mother – and she oozes sexuality to boot.”
