KATE and Wills carried out their first virtual visit today — thanking teachers looking after children of key workers.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also chatted to the youngsters, some wearing Easter bunny ears, during the video call.
The Lancashire school is one of many around the country that has remained open so key workers and NHS staff with children can get to work during the coronavirus crisis.
The Duchess said: “To you and everyone who is in during this time, it must be such a relief for all the parents who are key workers to know that the normality is there for their children, they’ve really got the structure and they’ve got a safe place for them to be.
“So really, really well done and for all of you I know it’s not easy circumstances, but it’s fantastic.”
Pupils showed them portraits of their parents.
Kate told a boy of ten he should be “very proud” of his mum, who works for the NHS.
Wills told another at Casterton Primary Academy, next to Burnley General Hospital, his dad’s bakery job was “very important too”.
Local education chief Anita Ghidotti said: “There were a lot of questions, too.
“They have been learning about William the Conquerer so asked the Duke, ‘What will you be known like in a 1,000 years. William what?’ There was lots of laughter at that.”
