Kate Middleton met with first lady Jill Biden this afternoon

The issue has been described as very close to both of their hearts.

Kate’s meeting with Dr Biden will be the third time she has met with a US president and his wife.

In 2011 and 2016 she twice met Barack and Michelle Obama.

After the joint engagement, she will then join the Queen and Camilla for Big Lunch event at the Eden Project.

The Big Lunch project forms part of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations next year and is aimed at bringing communities together.

Meanwhile, Prince Charles is holding a reception to brief leaders on his “‘sustainable markets initiative”.

Tonight, the royals will be out in force together to join world leaders at a reception at the Eden Project.

The lavish dinner will see the Queen supported by Prince Charles, Camilla and Kate and Prince William.

Leaders will tuck into spiced melon, turbot and strawberry pavlova prepared by local chef Emily Scott.

It will be the first time the Queen has met with any foreign leader since the start of the pandemic.

Tonight’s event is also aimed at displaying the Firm’s important diplomatic role and their power in promoting “Brand Britain”.

The Queen is also attending an official birthday parade at Windsor Castle tomorrow and is hosting Joe and Jill Biden for tea on Sunday.

Biden will be the the 13th US President to meet the Queen, who has hosted every American head of state since taking the throne in 1952.

The only exception was Lyndon B. Johnson, who did not fly to Britain during his presidency.

This event will be the first time the Queen has flown solo during the official meeting after the death of Prince Philip in April.
