KING Charles and Prince William are refusing to give Harry the apology he is demanding due to ongoing tensions in the family, it was reported last night.

Sources sympathetic to the royal quandary have described the situation as a “toxic stalemate”.

Tensions are still running high between Prince William and Prince Harry

King Charles is reported to not be in ‘any mood to pander to Harry’s demands’

There is just over 70 days before the King is crowned on May 6, alongside the Queen Consort.

And with still no confirmation from the Sussex camp as to whether the couple will be attending the royal event, the Daily Mail reports, just how “icy family relations still are”.

It is said that neither Charles nor William are in any mood to pander to Harry’s demands following his latest round of attacks.

“There is still a huge amount of ill will boiling over in the family”, once source said.

Numbers for the ceremony have been drastically reduced, from the 8,251 guests who attended Queen Elizabeth II’s 1953 coronation, to make the event more streamlined amid the cost of living crisis.

“Save the date cards” will be sent out in two weeks to the 2,000 guests who have been chosen to attend the spring ceremony.

Formal invitations to those who have indicated they will accept will be posted out three weeks before the event.

It is reported that Harry, 38 has long had an “open” invitation to all family events, as a member of the Royal Family, despite quitting official duties.

Although the olive branch is still extended to Harry and his wife Meghan, it is being stretched to its limit by the couples repeated, attacks on the family.

The couple have continued to criticise members of the family via their Netflix documentary, Harry’s memoir, and numerous critical television and print interviews.

Journalist Omid Scobie, who has close links to the couple claimed this week that “no-one knows their plans right now – the couple has yet to be invited and can’t make a decision, nor any form of itinerary, until that happens”.

However one source says Harry has made it clear that he wants an “apology” from Charles and William before he will attend.

Harry’s insistence that he and his wife are owed an apology before any reconciliation can begin has become a major sticking point for both the King and his elder son.

One insider said: “What are the family meant to apologise for?

“As the late Queen said, recollections may vary.”

Another source said it was likely there would be conversations between the two camps in the coming weeks over arrangements for May.

But they warned: “I don’t think His Majesty is minded to apologise for anything at present.

“Quite the opposite.

“There is still a huge amount of ill will boiling over in the family.

“Conversations could still happen in the next few weeks [over the Sussexes’ attendance], I am sure, but they will be waiting a very long time for an apology. There’s a great deal of hurt [at Harry’s actions].”

It is still not know if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will attend King Charles’ coronation in May
