MEGHAN Markle is everyone’s fashion icon – so it’s unsurprising when even celebrities are spotted wearing Duchess-inspired looks.

But when we noticed the royal has been wearing some outfits VERY similar to styles seen on Amanda Holden, we couldn’t help but wonder who has been inspiring who?

Ever since Meghan and Prince Harry started dating, the “Meghan Markle effect” has been in full force, with pretty much everything the Duchess wears, selling out immediately.

For example, when Meghan was spotted wearing Finlay & Co’s Percy sunglasses on her and Harry’s first appearance as a couple, the brand saw a 1,000 per cent increase in sales.

And when she wore a pair of Hiut Denim jeans, co-founder David Hieatt revealed: “We’re moving to a new factory. The effect has been remarkable.”

Despite 48-year-old Amanda not yet having quite the same effect, she’s certainly influencing British fashion with several of the presenter’s styles having sold out following an outfit post on Instagram. So who’s copying who?

Amanda wore an almost identical dress in January 2014

The red coat

When Meghan, 38 and Harry, 35, visited Hamilton Square in Birkhenhead at the start of this year, the Duchess wore a 1,085 red wrap coat by Sentaler.

Midi in length with ribbed cuffs and a wide collar, it’s remarkably similar to a coat Amanda wore at the Light Sky Launch in November 2017.

While Meghan paired her tie-waist coat with a purple midi dress – which she recycled last week at the One Young World summit – Amanda layered her coat over a matching red midi dress.

The pink floral maxi

It’s one of the summer’s most popular styles and it seems both Meghan and Amanda have been loving the colourful floral maxi dress trend.

Meghan wore a long-sleeved style last year in October, at a morning tea reception at the British High Commissioners Residence in Fiji.

The 1,160 silk Frederica dress by Figue features a wrap style, flounced skirt and pom pom ties.

Meanwhile, Amanda wore a very similar style this year, while leaving the Heart Radio studios in June.

The presenter’s style, by Primrose Park London, was also maxi in length, with a similar red floral pattern, but featured a low-cut, tie neckline and a leg slit.

The red leather skirt

Amanda was spotted wearing a very similar outfit today

Meghan Markle is a huge fan of Hugo Boss’ 460 leather pencil skirt, with the Duchess also owning the style in green as well as red.

Meg wore the style with a 235 red knit by Joseph Garnet at a roundtable discussion on gender equality with The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust and One Young World at Windsor Castle last week.

Meanwhile, Amanda Holden wore an almost identical outfit today, returning to work with her broken leg on a scooter this morning.

The presenter teamed a very similar red leather midi skirt by Sosandar, priced at 139, with a red knit by London-based brand, The Fold.

In other fashion news, we told you how Meghan Markle fans love the 14 dupe of her 220 cashmere burgundy jumper and its just as cosy.

We also revealed Studio has matching Christmas pyjamas with sprouts on for the whole family and they only cost 6.

And we showed you one Boohoo shopper was horrified as her skin-tight PVC trousers sound like f***ing Sellotape when she walks.
