MEGHAN Markle is said to have encouraged Prince Harry to open up about receiving counselling over his mum Princess Dianas death.

The Duchess of Sussex, 38, advised her husband, 35, to make a guest appearance on journalist Bryony Gordons Mad World podcast in April 2017.

On the show, the Duke of Sussex was honest about seeking help in his late twenties after struggling to cope following the death of Diana, who passed away in August 1997.

Bryony wrote on the Telegraph: It was Meghan who had encouraged her then boyfriend to do the podcast about his mental health with me.

“I felt we were on the same wavelength.”

The royal couple, along with Prince William and Kate Middleton, have passionately championed reducing stigma around mental health.

The year before his podcast appearance, Harry and the Cambridges had set up the Head Together charity, which focuses on promoting open conversations around it.

The revelation comes after the emotional ITV documentary, where Prince Harrysaid he hasgrown apart from brother William, and Meghan admitted she isstruggling to cope as a new mum in the spotlight.

In the documentary, Harry and Meghan: An African Journey,Meghan said that keeping quiet and having a “stiff upper lip” about the scrutiny she faces is “damaging”.

Addressing the widespread criticism the couple faced this summer,Meghan Markleadmitted: “I’ve said for a long time to H – that’s what I call him – it is not enough to just survive something, right?

“That’s not the point of life. You’ve got to thrive.

“You’ve got to feel happy and I think I really tried to adopt this British sensibility of a stiff upper lip. I tried, I really tried.”

Meghan Markle also said thatnot many people had asked if she is ok in her new role as a royal.

Mum-of-one Meghan, who gave birth to Archie in May, appeared at the Luminary Bakery in Camden, London, this week and said were all wounded creatures that need to be healed.

On the documentary, Prince Harry said he wouldlove to leave the UK and base his family in Cape Town.

He also spoke of the festering wounds that have remained following his late mums death.

A senior Kensington Palace source saidWilliam is genuinely worried for Harry and Meghan after their emotional TV interview and hopes they are all right.

It is understood theQueen would have been “a little bit dismayed” by the broadcast of personal relationship details to the public.
