MEGHAN Markle has revealed the benefits of having a non-traditional Christmas and spending the festive season with friends instead of family.

In an old, unearthed interview with Grazia from before Meghan became a royal, the Duchess suggested hosting a buffet with mates instead of the traditional Christmas dinner.

Meghan shared her Christmas tips in an unearthed interview

“Holidays with your friends allows you to break the family traditions and avoid Aunt Julie’s fruit cake!” Meghan explained

“Have each of your friends bring a dish or cook together in the kitchen.”

Meghan has a number of pals overseas, including stylist and BFF Jessica Mulroney whose children were page boys and flower girl at her wedding to Prince Harry.

The Duchess, 38, also advised readers on decorating their homes, suggesting the table be laid with white crockery and a white table cloth.

When speaking about how to “fake fancy” her home, she advised: “Purchase silver serving trays, platters, nut bowls from flea markets or Etsy to add formality to hors d’oeuvres passing. ”

Earlier this week, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry would not be spending Christmas Day with the Royal Family at Sandringham.

Instead, they will spend baby Archie’s first festive season with Meghan’s mum, Doria Ragland, a decision which some royal experts believe “might hurt” the Queen.

Meghan andHarryhave spent the last two Christmases in Sandringham, where the Queen always celebrates.

Confirming they would celebrate with Doria instead this year, Buckingham Palace said: “This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen.”

The couple have spent the last two years at Sandringham

Last year, Meghan and Harry celebrated Thanksgiving at home in Kensington Palace, with the Duchess reported to have made a traditional turkey dinner.

The Sussexes had been planning to fly to LA this year, according to reports, but are now considering other options.

Royal biographer Ingrid Seward said: Christmas at Sandringham can be quite stressful so perhaps they dont want to go with Archie at such a young age.

Ingrid thinks the Queen might be “a little hurt”

Having said that, Sandringham has played host to many many children through the ages and is well set up for them.

I think its sad they dont want to be part of the family gathering, particularly now the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are in their dotage.

The Queen might be a little hurt but shes far too gracious to ever let it show or be known.
