MEGHAN Markle is said to have upset Kate Middleton with a “foot-stamping rant” after feeling disrespected by a member of her staff, a royal author has claimed.
Tom Quinn claims to have spoken to Kensington Palace insiders who said that Meghan, 38, felt she was not being treated with the same respect as Kate, 38.
It has previously been reported that Meghan had tension with Kate’s staff, but Tom provided more details in his new book, Kensington Palace: An Intimate Memoir from Queen Mary to Meghan Markle.
He revealed to the Daily Star Online that Meghan and Prince Harry were living in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace, which was small in comparison to the Cambridge’s Apartment 1A.
Tom said this led to the Duchess of Sussex feeling “second place”.
He said of the alleged incident between Meghan and Kate’s staff: “So when Harry and Will got together and sometimes Meghan and Kate as well, because there was this tension occasionally, famously Meghan slightly lost her temper with a member of Kate’s staff in front of Kate.
“The reason she lost it with Kate’s member of staff was that she, Meghan, didn’t feel that this person was giving her the sort of attention she deserved.
“It was almost as if in that one encounter, it encapsulated for Meghan the problem that she had, that she’s a Princess and she’s number two.”
Tom added that Meghan went from being a successful actress to an environment where she felt “alien” as people ranked her based on who becomes King or Queen next.
He continued: “The way it was described to me was, there were raised voices and foot-stamping.”
Tom claims his source said that the Kensington Palace staff member told Meghan she couldn’t fulfill a request, because she worked for Kate.
Kate was left “horrified” by the incident, the royal author claimed, as she is “very fond” of the staff member and thought Meghan’s treatment of her was “unacceptable.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have since stepped down as senior royals and moved to LA with baby Archie, one.
They are said to be currently self-isolating in Tyler Perry’s £15million mansion, while they plan their next ventures.
Kensington Palace declined to comment.
