Mike Tindall’s big I’m A Celeb pay check is no different to Harry cashing in on commercial deals, royal expert claims

IF there’s one person we never expected to eat critters on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, it was a royal.

Former rugby pro Mike Tindall shocked Brits after joining the jungle line-up. The 44-year-old, who married Princess Anne’s daughter Zara in 2011, flew into Australia with fellow celebrities like Boy George, Chris Moyles and MP Matt Hancock.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl claims Mike is acting like Prince Harry

Mike is the first member of the Royal Family to take part on I’m A Celeb and according to one royal expert, his money-minded behaviour has tarnished him with the same brush as Prince Harry’s.

Vanity Fair’s Royal Editor Katie Nicholl shared her view on True Royalty TV’s programme The Royal Beat, claiming that Mike is making some serious cash, just like Harry.

“He’s making a lot of money out of it,” she told the show of Mike’s appearance in the jungle. “I do think this all leads to the much bigger question about Royals and commercialisation.”

Katie says we’re focusing so much on the Sussexes that we’re not seeing Mike’s actions for what they are.

“We dedicate so much time to discussing Harry and his commercial deals. How is this different? It’s not,” she exclaims.

Royal followers have been aware of King Charles’ plan to tighten the monarchy and save money for some time. Now that the Queen has sadly passed and he’s ascended to the throne, Katie says Mike’s TV antics are only justifying the King’s goal.

“I think the point is, this really crystalises Charles’ argument and vision for a slimmed-down monarchy,” she explains.

Tension has been felt behind palace walls ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from royal duties in 2020.

In those two years, the couple have signed lucrative contracts with the likes of Spotify and Netflix, while Harry has written a highly-anticipated and explosive memoir – expected to contain shocking revelations about the monarchy.

Thanks to the deals, the pair are thought to be bringing home millions of pounds. Meanwhile, according to reports, Mike is reported to be earning £150,000 for his stint in the jungle.

So far, Mike’s made a good impression on his jungle campmates and plans on getting close with Boy George to help out his DJ mate James Haskell.

He’s even earned the nickname Magic Mike and has treated us all to some royal gossip, including how he met wife Zara and their incredibly boozy first date.
