MORE than 100 students have alleged they were sexually assaulted at Prince William’s old university — after a US-style ‘fraternity’ suspended members over rape claims.

The women asked for help as St Andrews’ Alpha Epsilon Pi brotherhood faced at least nine sex crime accusations.

More than 100 students have alleged they were sexually assaulted at St Andrews University

Bosses at the uni, where Will and Kate Middleton met in 2001, have vowed to support victims. But they wouldn’t say if any probes were underway.

The St Andrews Survivors group, whose volunteers have suffered sex assaults, said over 100 alleged victims had asked it for help.

A spokesman warned sports and uni societies could put students at risk as they “promote heavy drinking and toxic notions of masculinity”.

One alleged victim claimed she was targeted in February after getting “very drunk” at a fraternity party.

She said: “One of the boys I knew said he’d walk me home. I thought he was someone I could trust.

“He put me to bed and the next thing I remember is waking up to him raping me.”

Another female claimed frat chiefs ignored alleged attacks by members.

She added: “I made it clear to them that me and my best friend are survivors of sexual assault by Alpha Epsilon Pi. They didn’t seem to take that to mean anything.”

The brotherhood, which has chapters across the globe, was the first group of its kind at a Scots uni.

Leaders say they’re working with cops and faculty bosses to ensure suspects are prosecuted.

In February, Ari Goldstein, 23, then-president of Philadelphia’s Temple Uni chapter, was jailed over a sex assault bid.

The group has faced similar claims in America. St Andrews’ 50-strong branch urged reporting of crimes.

Community inspector Yvonne Stenhouse said: “Complaints will be progressed accordingly.”

The National Union of Students Scotland want “clear and accessible” reporting procedures.
