PETER Phillips’ split from his wife is a “bombshell” for the Queen – after a string of bad news last year.

Her Majesty will be reeling still from a series of upsets, including Megxit and Prince Andrew’s Epstein scandal, a royal commentator has said.

Dickie Arbiter spoke of the Queen’s upset at the news Peter Phillips would be divorced

He is reportedly her favourite grandson – and has been married to Autumn for 12 years

Dickie Arbiter told Good Morning Britain: “The Queen will be upset about it, she’s always upset when something happens in the family.

“We had a raft of things last year – Prince Philips car crash, the Duke of York’s car crash interview, Harry and Meghan going off into the sunset.

“Marriages do unfortunately disintegrate, and this one has.”

It comes after HOAR revealed the marriage between Peter and his wife Autumn has come to an end.

The 41-year-old, told Princess Annes son, 42, she wants to split after 12 years of marriage.

Close friends are suggesting that Megxit Prince Harry and Meghans departure from the UK to Canada could have hastened Autumns shock decision.

Sports marketing consultant Peter, 42, and Autumn, 41, who is a management consultant, have two children Savannah, nine and Isla, seven.

It is believed the daughters have dual Canadian citizenship which means they could easily live in Canada if Autumn were to return there.

One pal revealed: Peter is absolutely devastated by this and just didnt see it coming.

He thought he was happily married and had the perfect family with two lovely daughters. But he is now in total shock.

The revelation comes just two weeks after Peter sparked international controversy for advertising milk in China while being promoted as a British royal.

Last January Prince Philip was involved in a shocking car crash near the Sandringham Estate, crashing into two women and a baby and rolling his own car.

It led to questions over if the 98-year-old should still be driving, after taking a step back from public life.

And Prince Andrew was last year removed from public royal duties, after his “ill-judged” friendship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein continues to be scrutinised.

It followed followed days of media scrutiny after his attempts to defend himself in a disastrous Newsnight interview were derided.

And in the final blow for her Majesty after a year of turmoil in the royal household, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they wanted to step down as senior royals.

The pair posted on Instagram their plans to split their time between Britain and North America – with Canada as their second home.

The couple said they will be “financially independent” as they “carve out a progressive new role”, but will still support the Queen.

The Duke, 35, and Duchess, 38, said in their surprise statement: After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution.
