Piers Morgan has called Meghan Markle a ‘fake virtue-signalling hypocrite’

Piers was furious about the couple’s interview with Oprah Winfrey

Piers, who walked on GMB after refusing to apologise for not believing Meghan during her chat with Oprah, slammed the chat-show host for not pushing back when the couple made bombshell claims about the royal family.

The Sussexes accused the palace of racism after claiming a member of the family question how dark Archie’s skin would be.

But Piers hit back at the couple – and CBS – after their claims were left unchallenged, leaving the world to assume everything they said was fact.

In his latest MailOnline column, he wrote: “Oprah Winfrey barely challenged a word her two friends said, leaving Americans and the woefully gullible US media to assume every sensational bombshell of self-serving tittle-tattle was fact when much of it wasn’t.

‘HYPOCRITE’

“It’s hard to overstate the pain and hurt these claims have caused the Queen, and to make it even worse, they were made at a time when her 99-year-old husband Prince Philip lay seriously ill in hospital.

“This sham of an ‘interview’ was a shameful betrayal of journalistic standards by CBS.”

He went on to write that much of what the couple said has been “proven to be untrue” and described the interview at as a “lengthy whine-athon”.

Piers added: “I quit my UK breakfast show Good Morning Britain after refusing to apologise for disbelieving Meghan Markle‘s disingenuous load of fact-devoid baloney in her lengthy Oprah whine-athon with Prince Harry, much of which has now been proved to be untrue.”

He also touched upon his brief “friendship” with Meghan, 39, and admitted he has been “very critical of her”.

But Piers pointed out anything he has said has “nothing to do with her skin colour” – adding he has been “equally critical of Harry and he’s white”.

He added: “It’s true that having once been friendly with her, I’ve been very critical of her in the past three years because I believe she’s a fake virtue-signalling hypocrite who ruthlessly exploits her royal titles for financial gain.

“But none of that honestly held opinion is based on anything to do with her skin colour.

‘NOT RACIST’

“I’ve been equally critical of Harry for his own ludicrous antics and he’s white.”

It comes after Piers branded Meghan a “whiny, privileged, hypocritical celebrity who exploits victimhood to suppress free speech”.

Writing in the Mail on Sunday, Piers explained the comments he made on the show in the hours after Meghan and Harry’s interview aired, and his reasons for leaving.

He also discussed the aftermath of that decision, including the fact his good friend Sharon Osbourne subsequently quit US show The Talk after she defended him.

Piers wrote: “Sharon Osbourne’s quit The Talk, driven out for the crime of defending me, a friend she knows isn’t racist, from a co-worker saying I’m racist simply because I disbelieve Meghan Markle.

“It’s outrageous, but what’s happened to Sharon and me in the past fortnight isn’t really about Ms Markle.

“She’s just one of many whiny, privileged, hypocritical celebrities who now cynically exploit victimhood to suppress free speech, value their own version of the truth above the actual truth, and seek to cancel anyone that deviates from their woke world view or who dares to challenge the veracity of their inflammatory statements.”
