PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle got decor tips for their new California mansion by Sir Elton John’s “extravagant” designer.

Martyn Lawrence Bullard, 53, was introduced to the former Royal couple by the superstar after he decorated his Los Angeles apartment.

A source told The Mail on Sunday: “Elton put Harry and Meg in touch with Martyn after they moved to LA. They had a meeting and got on really well.

“Martyn was really helpful on where they should be house-hunting and what kind of properties.

“Some of his interiors are outrageous and over the top, but he’s also great at working out exactly what the client wants and delivering it.”

The decorator, from Kent, England, has previously worked with Kylie Jenner, Tommy Hilfiger, Cher and Sharon Osbourne.

An industry source also told the outlet: “Martyn’s very popular and successful with all the big Hollywood stars.

“His taste is very extravagant and he doesn’t come cheap, but the end result is breathtaking.”

The royal couple swapped Los Angeles for nearby Montecito, Santa Barbara, home to A-listers such as Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres.

Harry and Meghan have reportedly taken out a $9.5m mortgage on the nine-bedroom property which was previously listed for $27m.

Their huge 14,563-square-foot ‘palatial’ pad, known as ‘The Chateau,’ was bought by Sergey Grishin in 2009 for $25m – however he has struggled to find wealthy buyers able to meet the asking price.

It was eventually listed again in January, for around $17m and sold to the royal couple for around $2.5m under that asking price.

According to real estate agents who spoke with the LA Times, the deal was closed in an “off-market” sale in June.
