A NEW book about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will claim it was HIS decision to quit the Royal Family, HOAR on Sunday can reveal.

Finding Freedom – said to have been written with the couple’s knowledge – will shatter the notion the American actress is the driving force behind the pair.

A large section of the biography will be dedicated to “setting the record straight” over Megxit.

On Saturday night a publishing insider said: “That word ‘Megxit’ in particular has always angered Prince Harry. It gives the impression that the decision to walk away from the Royal Family was Meghan’s.

“The reality is Harry drove that decision. The book will make that clear and explain why it had to happen. The truth is Harry had been unhappy for a long, long time.

“He wanted to move in the direction that they did and had been considering it for more than a year.

“Meghan supported Harry’s decision. But there was more than one occasion where she asked him if he was certain it was what he wanted.

“And she always made it clear she would support him in whatever he did.”

‘ANGRY’ HARRY

In the days after his shock announcement that he was stepping away from Royal life, Harry, 35, hinted at his anger that the finger had been pointed at his wife for the decision.

Speaking at a charity event he said: “Once Meghan and I were married, we were excited, we were hopeful, and we were here to serve.

Harry, Meghan and Archie have moved permanently to California to become ‘financially independent

“For those reasons, it brings me great sadness that it has come to this. The decision that I have made for my wife and I to step back, is not one I made lightly.

“It was so many months of talks after so many years of challenges. And I know I haven’t always gotten it right, but as far as this goes, there really was no other option.”

Contrary to reports, the book – published worldwide on August 11 – will not be detailing the 38 year old Suits star’s ongoing fallout with her dad Thomas.

The source added: “The book – as the very woke title suggests – is very much about the ‘journey’ Meghan and Harry are embarking on.

“It will focus closely on the causes Meghan and Harry want to focus on, and the new life they are leading.

“The book won’t address things that have been said about them by Thomas (Markle). This matter is being dealt with in court and that’s where Harry and Meghan think it should stay.”

According to publishers, Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, goes ‘beyond the headlines’.

It will ‘dispel the many rumours and misconceptions which have plagued the couple on both sides of the pond.’

‘BREAK WITH TRADITION’

The 368-page tome is said to be an “honest, up-close, and disarming portrait of a confident, influential, and forward-thinking couple who are unafraid to break with tradition, determined to create a new path away from the spotlight, and dedicated to building a humanitarian legacy that will make a profound difference in the world.”

The authors – former showbiz journalist Omid Scobie and royal reporter Carolyn Durand – are said to have been given access to friends of the pair, as well as direct access to the Sussexes themselves.

News of the biography comes after the Duke and Duchess announced they would be having a “zero engagement” policy with British tabloids.

Meanwhile, earlier this week the couple celebrated their second wedding anniversary – enjoying Zoom calls with family including Meghan’s mum, Doria, and block booking a day off work.

We can reveal they also enjoyed a takeaway dinner from one of the star’s favourite Los Angeles restaurants, Baco Mercat.

Prepared by the eaterie’s head chef, they washed down their ‘Mexican-Mediterranean’-themed supper – £11 beef bacos and £12.50 stuffed flatbreads – with margaritas.

According to a family friend, the pair were also sent a bottle of celebratory vintage wine from pals George and Amal Clooney.

The source added: “It was a lovely, low-key day and night, and baby Archie was with them throughout.

“For her gift to him, Meghan had an artist friend of Doria’s design a print which included the lyrics to the first dance from their wedding, which she then had framed. It was both thoughtful and romantic.”
