PRINCE Harry was told to “lay off” his brother William’s children yesterday — after claiming he aired his gripes in a bid to help them.

It came as HOAR on Sunday learnt William is said to be “grieving” for Harry — even though his brother is still alive — since the breakdown of their relationship.

In his latest interview to promote his memoir, Harry, 38, said he feared at least one of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ children would end up a “spare” like him.

The Duke of Sussex said he felt a responsibility to Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven and four-year-old Prince Louis to “fix” things.

But in an interview yesterday, he also admitted his older brother had made it clear his children were not Harry’s responsibility.

Royal author and Majesty magazine editor Ingrid Seward said yesterday: “Harry should lay off Prince William’s children. In fact, he should lay off everybody and button it now.

“It is a very dangerous road to go down, to start talking about other people’s children.

“And what he says Prince William said to him is absolutely right — they are William’s responsibility and not his, so he should keep out of it.

“It is none of Harry’s business. But Harry has become dangerous to his family, and to himself, because he can lob in his little asides whenever he wants.”

In the interview for the Daily Telegraph, Harry said he was someone who liked to “fix things”. He said: “If I see wrongdoing and a pattern of behaviour that is harming people, I will do everything I can to change it.”

Talking about other “spares” in the Royal Family, he added: “As I know full well, within my family, if it’s not us, it’s going to be someone else.

“And though William and I have talked about it once or twice, and he has made it very clear to me that his kids are not my responsibility, I still feel a responsibility knowing one of those three children, at least one, will end up like me, the spare.

“That hurts. That worries me.”

Speaking from the California mansion he shares with wife Meghan, 41 and their children Archie, three and Lilibet, one, Harry also claimed his family needed to talk about “trauma” in their lives.

He added: “You may not like me in the moment but maybe you’ll thank me in five or ten years’ time.”

William, 40, is said to feel “living grief” over the breakdown of his close relationship with Harry.

In his book, Harry claims his brother floored him, breaking his necklace and sending him crashing onto a dog bowl at his home, Nottingham Cottage. A source told HOAR on Sunday: “William told people he was grieving a while ago — and he is obviously feeling worse now.

“He realised his relationship with Harry was beyond repair over the course of the last year.

“He’s aware that you can suffer grief even if someone is alive because your relationship is effectively dead. That is how he feels about Harry.”

Sources said Prince William will not respond to his brother’s latest revelations. Kensington Palace declined to comment.
