THE Crown fans have demanded Netflix tackles Prince Andrews friendship with Jeffrey Epstein after his car crash interview.

The hit drama returned to the streaming service for its third series on Sunday, and while it only covers events between 1964 and 1976, viewers are already plotting future storylines involving the Royals.

The Crown fans have demanded Netflix tackles Prince Andrews friendship with Jeffrey Epstein after his car crash interview

On Saturday, Prince Andrew 59, spoke about his links with disgraced millionaire Jeffrey Epstein during an “unvetted questions” interview with Emily Maitlis on BBC Newsnight.

The shocking interview has been labelled a ‘car crash’ by many, and The Crown fans think the whole debacle needs to be covered by the Netflix show.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “Season 6 of #thecrown is going to be a blinder. #princeandrew.”

A second tweeted: “I devoured season 3 of #TheCrown and now, after Prince Andrew’s ‘car crash’ interview and life in general…i cant wait for seasons 7 and 8!”

Viewers want to see their friendship and the subsequent drama play out on the Netflix show

A third agreed, writing: “Imagine #TheCrown getting up to the point where they introduce Prince Andrew and Jeffery Epstein.”

Meanwhile a fourth shared: “I just love how the writers of #TheCrown must be sat in a bar somewhere, raising a glass to #princeandrew for sealing the deal on season 9.”

However it may not happen, after Netflix content boss Ted Sarandos revealed back in 2016 that the series was planned to be a six season run spanning 60 years of the Royal Family.

He told The Hollywood Reporter at the time: “The idea is to do this over six decades, in six seasons presumably, and make the whole show over eight to 10 years.”

The series began in 1947, so with Ted’s comments in mind, it would mean the show would end around 2007, years before Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein are believed to have met.

The Duke was last pictured with Epstein in New York in 2010 after the hedge fund manager had been released from prison and was a registered sex offender.

Ms Maitlis grilled the royal on whether he had any regret or shame about his friendship with the convicted sex offender.

Andrew said: “Do I regret the fact that he has quite obviously conducted himself in a manner unbecoming? Yes.”

Ms Maitlis replied: “Unbecoming? He was a sex offender.”

He clarified: “Yeah, Im sorry, Im being polite, I mean in the sense that he was a sex offender.”

Public relations and crisis consultant Mark Borkowski said: “I have never seen anything so disastrous. For any students of PR that is how not to do it.

“It was like watching a man in quick sand and unfortunately, I don’t think anyone would have thrown him a line to get him out.”

The Crown series three is available to stream on Netflix now.
