DESPITE another royal couple announcing they are splitting up this week, the Queen is still uncomfortable with the idea of divorce, according to a royal commentator.

Ingrid Seward, editor of the Majesty Magazine, said Her Majesty, 93, will often encourage couples to make their marriage work as she thinks it is too easy to get divorced.

The Queen is said to be ‘uncomfortable’ with the idea of divorce, according to a royal commentator

There have been two announcements of royal divorces so far this year, with David Linley, 58, the Earl of Snowdon, and wife Serena, 49, revealing they were separating yesterday.

This followed Peter, 42, and Autumn Phillips, 41, announcing they were splitting a week before.

Ingrid said that the Queen is now backing the strength of Kate Middleton, 38, and 37-year-old Prince Williams marriage.

She told Okay!: If she didn’t have them, I think she might say to herself: Goodness, after over 70 years on the throne, it’s come to nothing.

The Earl of Snowdon and his wife the Countess of Snowdon wed in October 1993 but have now “amicably agreed” that their marriage has come to an end

It is the second royal split in a week and comes after the Queens grandson Peter Phillips is to separate from his wife Autumn Kelly

Ingrid added that the Queen is still struggling with the fact that three of her four childrens marriages broke down and ended in divorced.

The royal commentator added: She used to say Just wait two years and see if you can make it work. She will have urged Peter and Autumn to try again.

Ingrid said the Queen remains stoical about royal splits, but her pragmatic nature will have helped her to cope with the splits.

She added the monarchs hopes now lies with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, after a tough year.

In the past 12 months, Prince Andrew has withdrawn from royal duties after being linked to disgraced paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, and Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have stepped back from the family.
