Archie Miller-Bakewell was Prince Philip’s right-hand man

Who is Archie Miller-Bakewell?

Archie Miller-Bakewell was the Duke of Edinburgh’s loyal private secretary, working for the senior royal for more than a decade.

Little is known about the man who seemingly kept himself out of the spotlight.

The Daily Mail’s Rebecca English in January 2019 said that an unnamed source had described him as “charming, old school, Establishment – and completely wet”.

The Duke’s apparent fascination with UFOs and aliens appears to have been confirmed in a letter written by Miller-Bakewell.

Prince Philip reportedly spent the summer of 2019 reading The Halt Perspective.

The plans for Prince Philip’s funeral

The book examined the events in December 1980 when US servicemen stationed at RAF Woodbridge went to investigate strange lights in a nearby forest.

The book was co-authored by retired US Air Force Col Charles Halt, who was the base deputy commander at the time, and retired West Midlands detective, John Hanson.

In a letter to Hanson, Miller-Bakewell wrote: “I am certain it will be read with close interest over the summer.”

Then after receiving another book on the subject by Hanson, Haunted Skies: The Encyclopedia of British UFOs Miller-Bakewell again replied: “His Royal Highness will add this copy to his collection.”

When did he start working for Prince Philip?

He started working for the Prince in 2010, according to Royal Central.

Miller-Bakewell represented the Duke at numerous official events when the Prince was unable to attend.

He was responsible for managing his diary and organising his public events until the Duke retired in 2017.

Only 30 people can attend Prince Philip’s funeral

Will he attend Prince Philip’s funeral?

Due to Covid restrictions, only 30 people will be allowed to attend Prince Philip’s funeral.

The final guestlist means a few of the speculated mourners have not made the cut – including Archie Miller-Bakewell.

Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and the Duchess of Gloucester will all not be attending.

The public have been asked to stay away from the funeral due to the pandemic with the advice being it is best to watch events on television.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said he will not attend the occasion in order that a member of the Royal Family can attend.
