PRINCE Harry has secretly been penning a book about his life, working with a ghostwriter to document his “lifetime in the public eye”.

He has reportedly been working on the book for about a year – with a manuscript due to be handed in to publishers later this year.

Harry’s memoir will detail his life as a member of the Royal Family and his relationship with wife Meghan Markle, among other chapters of his life

Who is the author ghostwriting Prince Harry’s book?

Harry has been writing the book with ghostwriter J.R. Moehringer, an American novelist and journalist.

Moehringer has written memoirs for two notable public figures.

Before getting into memoirs, he was a journalist, and launched his career as an assistant news editor at the New York Times.

In 2000 he won the Pulitzer Prize for newspaper feature writing.

Moehringer has written memoirs for notable public figures, including former tennis player Andre Agassi

Who has the ghostwriter previously worked with?

J.R. Moehringer has previously written memoirs for Andre Agassi and Nike co-founder Phil Knight.

His own memoir, The Tender Bar, was published in 2005.

The autobiography recounts his childhood, through to his early 20s, and tells of his coming-of-age experiences at a local bar.

After retired tennis star Andre Agassi read the book, he asked Moehringer to collaborate with him on his own memoir.

Open: An Autobiography, was published in 2009.

What will Prince Harry’s new book be about?

Harry’s memoir will detail his life as a member of the Royal Family, his relationship with wife Meghan Markle, Megxit and raising his children.

In a statement, the duke, 36, said: “I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become.

“I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope that in telling my story – the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned – I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.

“I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a firsthand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful.”

A blurb from the publisher Penguin Random House reads: “In an intimate and heartfelt memoir from one of the most fascinating and influential global figures of our time, Prince Harry will share, for the very first time, the definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shape him.

The blurb says that the book will cover Harry’s “lifetime in the public eye from childhood to the present day, including his dedication to service, the military duty that twice took him to the frontlines of Afghanistan, and the joy he has found in being a husband and father”.

It also promises “an honest and captivating personal portrait”.
