Why supermodel Kate Moss really went on that jubilee double decker bus – it’s all part of a top secret Royal plan

KATE MOSS’s services to partying are indisputable.

But the “Croydon clotheshorse” is now plumping for more formal recognition — an OBE — for modelling.

The supermodel has quietly been telling friends she would “absolutely love” to be given a nod by the Queen in the next round of honours.

To prepare for a possible nomination, HOAR can reveal Kate, 48, has been busy upping her charitable efforts — regularly delivering meals to the elderly in the Cotswolds, where she now lives.

Somewhat improbably, the model has been seen dropping round home-cooked Vietnamese dishes, courtesy of her brother Nick, who runs a food-delivery truck.

Locals in her village are said to be backing Kate’s OBE credentials, formally nominating their cheery neighbour via the Government’s official website.

COUNT-ACULAR

Who is Kate Moss dating?

An honour for Mossy may raise a few eyebrows in snooty circles as she was filmed allegedly snorting lines of cocaine in 2005.

But it may explain her prominent position at the Platinum Jubilee Parade, where she was invited to travel with other famous faces from the Nineties on a bus with her picture plastered on the side.

A resident in the village of Little Faringdon, Oxfordshire, where the model now lives, said: “Kate is really popular in these parts and has totally slotted into the community.

“She has no airs and graces and chats to everyone. She’s also started giving back, and is dishing out food and meals to the elderly who can’t get out and about.

“She’s the most glamorous meals on wheels service we’ve ever had.

“There’s been a lot of talk in the village about how Kate deserves an OBE. She’s a huge admirer of the Queen and made herself very much a main figure in support at the Jubilee.

“Having an OBE would mean a great deal to her.

“It’s something she blushes over when it gets mentioned, but everyone knows how much it means to her. We all love her in the village.

“She’s never come over haughty or entitled and she deserves a gong.”

Kate, who has featured on the front cover of fashion bible Vogue magazine more than any other British model, was seen wearing a vintage Galliano Union Jack jacket during celebrations for the Queen’s 70 years on the throne.

Once a champagne-swigging socialite and a purveyor of 36-hour booze benders, clean-living Kate is now teetotal.

A yoga devotee, she has swapped champagne for chaturanga.

Alas, she hasn’t been able to quit the cigarettes.

Today she is more likely to be seen walking her beloved Chihuahua cross, and Archie, her Staffordshire bull terrier cross, in the countryside than falling out of London’s private members’ club Soho House.

Similarly, out are the towering heels, in are Hunter wellies.

At her local boozer, The Plough Inn, French owner Vincent told HOAR: “It wouldn’t surprise me at all if she was helping people in need under the radar.

“When she comes in here she is always very private. She comes often, about ten times a year.

“There isn’t a pub in the village where she lives so this is really her local. She’s extremely kind, I don’t think a lot of people know that. We see her a lot.

“My daughter said she bumped into this lady who hugged her and asked after her and what she was up to, and it was Kate Moss. She never acts like a celebrity.”

Of course, Ms Moss — who sold her £10million North London mansion last year to move to the country full time — has not always been so wholesome.

Aged 31, she was snapped appearing to snort cocaine while on a night out with her then boyfriend, hell-raiser singer Pete Doherty.

The resulting furore saw her dropped by brand after brand, including a £4million deal with H&M.

She was later forced to issue a grovelling apology in which she said: “I take full responsibility for my actions.

“I also accept that there are various personal issues I need to address and have started taking the difficult, yet necessary, steps to resolve them.

“I want to apologise to all of the people I have let down because of my behaviour, which has reflected badly on my family, friends, co-workers, business associates and others.

“I am trying to be positive and the support and love I have received are invaluable.”

Kate, who had a stint in rehab at The Priory for “exhaustion”, continued to date the troubled Babyshambles frontman for a further two years until 2007.

The pair regularly hit the front pages with their boozed-up antics and Pete, a self-confessed heroin addict, was hardly ideal for a catwalk queen.

After their car-crash relationship ended, Kate — who has a daughter Lila, 19, with Dazed media company founder Jefferson Hack — started dating another rocker, The Kills frontman Jamie Hince.

The couple married in 2011 but split four years later before divorcing in 2016.

For the past seven years she has been seeing society photographer — so toff — Count Nikolai von Bismarck, who is 13 years her junior.

The couple appear blissfully happy and, in January, Kate said: “Being in love makes me feel beautiful.

“My favourite moments are when all the family are sitting down together having lunch on a sunny Sunday afternoon in the country.”

Should Kate get an honour it won’t be the first time she has met the Queen.

The model, who still earns a reported £9million a year, attended a reception honouring Women of the Year at Buckingham Palace in 2004.

Alongside luminaries including author JK Rowling and singer Charlotte Church, she shook hands with her idol — both women wearing royal blue.

‘If you’re beautiful inside, it shows outside’

And after celebrating the Jubilee atop the double-decker bus alongside fellow model Naomi Campbell, actor Patsy Kensit and celebrity make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury, Kate was seen hanging out with Paddington Bear.

The same Paddington, of course, whom the Queen had earlier performed a show-stealing skit with.

And while it is unknown if Kate also keeps a marmalade sandwich in her Mulberry handbag, the similarities with our head of state don’t end here.

Just like the Queen, Mossy has a motto of, “Never complain, never explain”.

Originating in the 19th century from former Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, the Royal Family — discounting Meghan and Harry, obviously — have adopted it, and remained tight-lipped no matter what unfolds around them.

Similarly, Kate rarely gives interviews and mostly refuses to engage with media attention surrounding her.

While a nod from the Queen may seem far-fetched, original Sixties supermodel Twiggy was made a Dame for services to fashion in 2018, and six years ago Vogue editor Edward Enninful — one of Mossy’s good pals — was given an OBE.

One of her best pals, fashion designer Stella McCartney, received an OBE after she designed Team GB’s Olympic kit in 2012 and she has just been awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in celebration of her Platinum Jubilee.

To her credit, Kate has certainly earned her keep.

Spotted outside JFK airport in New York, aged 14, by Storm agency boss Sarah Doukas, by 18 she had become the face of Calvin Klein, alongside Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg, now 51

Despite being a relatively short 5ft 7in for her profession, Kate went on to become one of the most successful supermodels of all time, alongside Naomi, Claudia Schiffer, Christy Turlington and Helena Christensen.

And she launched her own British talent agency six years ago.

But Kate has always wanted to be more than just a pretty face, once saying: “It sounds really corny but I think that if you’re beautiful inside it shows on the outside, for sure.

“You can be a pretty face, but if you’re not a nice person, it just doesn’t work.
