POP legend Sonia will star in Hollyoaks in a Eurovision special episode.

The singer – whose full name is Sonia Evans – shot to fame in 1989 with No1 hit You’ll Never Stop Me Loving You.

Pop legend Sonia will appear on Hollyoaks 29 years after her Eurovision success

The star finished in second place back in 1993

She recently appeared on BBC Breakfast to campaign for Liverpool to bag the job of hosting Eurovision.

It comes just shy of three decades after her own storming run in the competition.

Sonia will appear as part of a Eurovision-themed episode in May in which she’ll perform her 1993 track Better the Devil You Know.

A Hollyoaks insider told the Daily Star: “When producers decided to do a Eurovision episode, they knew Sonia would be perfect as she’s a local girl and one of the the UK’s most successful entrants ever.

“And her performance was fantastic. It went down a storm. Fans are going to love it.”

“Everyone was so excited to have Sonia on set. A lot of the cast are big fans of her.”

Sonia came second at Eurovision in 1993 with Better the Devil You Know and was the first female artist to achieve five Top 20 singles from one album.

She also appeared with Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Bananarama and Cliff Richard in the Band Aid II version of charity single Do They Know It’s Christmas?

HOAR then exclusively revealed that singer Mae Muller is hoping to emulate Sam Ryder’s success as she represents the UK for the 2023 contest in Liverpool – filmed just miles away from the Hollyoaks set.

She was hand picked by BBC bosses and industry execs who have been quietly watching her career for a number of years.

Mae’s female empowerment pop banger, I Wrote A Song, is hoped to impress viewers around Europe.
