BEVERLEY Callard ‘propositioned’ her Coronation Street husband in a thong and socks after downing vodka.
The 63-year-old actress – who is currently taking part in I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here – has played Liz McDonald in the ITV soap since 1989.
During that time, actor Charlie Lawson has come and gone numerous times as her husband Jim McDonald, with the pair forming a close friendship during their many years of working together.
However, after the pair enjoyed some post-filming drinks together, Beverley propositioned Charlie by knocking on his hotel room door in just a white thong and white socks.
He recalled the moment to The Daily Star, saying: “She did, God bless her, that’s right.
“She came into the room and climbed into bed and I said, ‘Darling, we’re working tomorrow so I’m just going to carry you out and put you back in your own bed.’
“And she was very sweet about it the next day.”
Despite being drunk, Beverley remembers the incident, writing in her memoirs that they had been staying at a pub that also did B&B and she had got “off her face” and vodka and bitter lemon as she matched Charlie drink for drink.
She said: “It was me – wearing nothing but a white thong and white socks.
“He knew I’d regret it in the morning if anything happened, so he took me back to my room again, put me on the bed then laid next to me all night with his arms folded and still wearing his jeans, leather jacket and Timberland boots!”
The actress was married at the time and admitted she would have been “mortified” if she had gone through with her drunken plan, and it had all been “out of character”.
Meanwhile, her husband Jon McEwan is planning a surprise vow renewal for her.
Jon – who has been married to Bev for ten years – thinks renewing the vows will be the perfect way to see off 2020.
