BOB Hope has been fully invested in his business at the new and improved B&B.

But reality catches up with him next week in Emmerdale when his daughter Cathy spirals out of control.

Cathy Hope spirals out of control

Her behaviour becomes a cause for concern for her friends

How can her loved ones help her?

The teen portrayed by Gabrielle Dowling hasn’t been herself in recent weeks, particularly before Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles) walked in on her skipping school.

Cathy admitted to Bernice that she was suffering from heavy periods which led to her getting on the pill and soap bosses were praised by many ITV viewers for the highly relatable storyline.

However, when Bob (Tony Audenshaw) focuses all of his attention on the B&B, he fails to notice that the youngster needs help.

Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop) reminds him not to let business interfere with his fatherly responsibilities in scenes due to air next week.

Despite this reminder, Bob still misses out on Cathy’s behaviour.

In later scenes, the kids are off to a gig but Cathy categorically refuses to be chaperoned by Wendy Posner (Susan Cookson) and puts her plan into action.

The teens and April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) are greatly concerned when Cathy’s behaviour turns more reckless.

Things go from bad to worse for Cathy when she begins to put her own life in danger and Bob finally realises she needs proper help.

Will it be too late?

As viewers of the Yorkshire-based drama will remember, Cathy sparked many concerns in the eponymous village when she had a violent outburst and decided to smash her twin brother’s guitar while raging at Bob in the café.

Bob has suffered the brunt of Cathy’s string of mood swings and, in most recent scenes, the pair have even vehemently argued over the B&B’s re-opening.

Cathy was told by her father that her random bouts of rage scared him and he had no idea what to do to make things any better.

Many fans have speculated that there’s more to Cathy’s erratic behaviour, although some viewers agree that hormonal changes can sometimes be the cause of brutal changes in temperament.

How will Bob help Cathy?

Is there more to her situation than meets the eye?

Emmerdale airs from Monday to Friday at 7.30pm on ITV.
