Harriet plays Summer Spellman in the beloved soap
In an interview with Inside Soap, Harriet Bibby revealed that she regularly works a weekend teaching job on top of her full-time role in Coronation Street.
The magazine asked her to tell them something most people don’t know about her, and she revealed she has a second job at a stage school in Manchester.
“Well, on my weekends, I’m a singing teacher. On Saturday mornings I teach kids at a musical theatre club.”
Harriet explained that it’s a job she’s had for years.
“I was a student and I’ve just carried on as I love it. It’s really fun and the kids are great,” she said.
“The kids I teach watched me get slimed on CBBC — and they loved that!” she added, referring to her appearance on Saturday Mash-Up earlier this year.
The 24-year-old actress from Wigan joined Britain’s longest-running soap in 2020. She plays teenager Summer Spellman.
The role of Summer was recast after actress Matilda Freeman, who was the same age as the character, decided to leave the soap.
Harriet’s now spent a good chunk of her early 20s in the spotlight, and admitted to Inside Soap that it was a bit of adjustment.
“It was so strange to begin with as I joined the show during the pandemic. I’d be wearing a mask when I was out and no one recognised me for a long time.”
However, she’s used to getting recognised while she’s out and about now.
“When I’m out with my friends who are also in the show, we get spotted a lot, and people mostly want to tell us how much they love Corrie, which is great,” she gushed.
