As diehard fans may be aware, the Manchester set of the iconic ITV soap has been opened for visits.
But following the Covid pandemic, there has been a dip in business.
On-set visits went through a two-year hiatus and only picked back up on March 12, 2022 – much like they did over in Emmerdale.
Soap bosses are eager to make up for the time viewers were kept away and have decided to enlist the help of their top stars.
Familiar TV faces have been asked to host and meet fans at the £40 tour visit of the new studios.
Peter Barlow actor Chris Gascoyne was the first to take on the role and fans were over the moon to see him.
One fan excitedly wrote on TripAdvisor: “Everything was perfect. Enjoyed by myself my partner and my partner’s mum.”
“Absolute bonus that one of the main characters from the show showed up, Pete Barlow.”
Another chimed in: “What a fantastic day the sun shone on weatherfield today our tour was at 2:45 pm 16th July and it was well organised.”
“We were excited to see who we got for the star and we weren’t disappointed PETER BARLOW fantastic guy and we got our photo with him would recommend the star tour don’t know how long they’re doing that for and it’s a different star each time.”
The 54-year-old, who has been playing Ken Barlow’s son for over two decades, was welcomed on set by cheering fans.
“You were the one we wanted”, one of them reportedly cried out.
“Aw that’s nice”, Chris responded, “I was just going to say I’m sorry Ken Barlow couldn’t be here.”
Corrie tours are available on selected days and a visit without a star meet and greet costs £28.
Meanwhile, Coronation Street continues to air every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
