Viewers are convinced Stephen (Todd Boyce) has finally met his match with Carla (Alison King) after she issued a chilling warning.

Carla warned Stephen not to be her enemy

Stephen is determined to go to extreme lengths become the new boss of Underworld.

Should Carla be worried?

In Monday’s episode of the ITV soap, Stephen was tasked to seal a deal with businessman man Rufus.

He resorted to blackmail in order to get the contract signed.

When Carla asks how Stephen got Rufus onside, he replied: “I can be very persuasive when I need to be.”

Seeing through Stephen’s charm, Carla issues him a chilling warning.

She began: “Well credit where credit’s due… you did well. Considering you messed it up in the first place.”

Stephen added: “Well let’s just say I have the habit of always coming out on top.”

Carla answered: “Word of warning Stephen. Don’t take me on. I’m telling ya you don’t want to make an enemy out of me.”

To which Stephen responded: “I wouldn’t dream of it. But thanks for the advice.”

The tension was rife as they declared war and fans flooded to Twitter to predict a showdown between the pair.

One said: “Carla will be the one to bring Stephen down and I can’t wait!!”

Another wrote: “I really want to see Carla at war with Stephen. And winning!”

A third penned: “Don’t mess with Carla Connor Stephen [sic] . She is a QUEEN Don’t forget that.”

Stephen actor Todd Boyce teased: “He really wants to harm her business and her reputation and he has no qualms about what he’s planning to do.”

Upcoming scenes will see Stephen resort to some desperate and dangerous tactics.

He will lace her tea with LSD aiming convince people that Carla’s psychosis has returned, leaving him the space to swoop in and take over the factory.

But Stephen is nearly caught in the act when Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) is absolutely bewildered to see an ‘up himself’ Stephen making everyone a brew.

Little does he know the sinister reason behind his generosity.

As Sean mocks him for being demoted to office manager, Stephen offers a chilling warning to stay on his good side.

Will Sean be Stephen’s next target?

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays on ITV1 from 8pm.
