CORONATION Street fans are disturbed after Max Turner was lured to Griff’s flat as part of a harrowing new grooming storyline.

The teenager – who is played by actor Paddy Bever in the ITV soap – was attacked by his school bullies tonight.

Griff started paying attention to Max after spotting him getting bullied

The scenes mark the start of Max’s descent into a far-right gang

And while his dad David was less than concerned, permanent protestor Griff was only too happy to step in and help Max.

He attacked the two lads and made them leave Max alone – but it later became clear that he wasn’t doing this for free.

Inviting Max to a Halloween party, things soon became q-white interesting with his fellow racists crowded around and began to let their vile views out.

But when Spider arrived, undercover, he was horrified to see Max there – and he tried to send the teen home.

It didn’t work, and Max ended up in a very dodgy costume with a Hitler moustache – with Griff claiming the bowler hat turned it into Charlie Chaplin.

Griff even let Max down cans of beer – which not even Spider could stop.

And when he finally did go home, Max lied to David about where he had been, leaving viewers feeling very disturbed.

One wrote: “Racist Griff is going to groom Max to be in his group”

A second said: “Max there for Groom the way that bloke looked at him….! Where’s Spider?”

Another added: “Griff is going to get max involved in his racist gang!! All that protecting max was a performance to gain his confidence”

While a fourth was a little less sympathetic, and said: “Right wing, racist extremism is pretty much the only thing Max had left to complete the whole criminal package”

The ITV soap announced last week that Max would be groomed into a far-right gang – leaving him and his family in danger.
