CORONATION Street has been slammed for Faye Windass’ lowkey and rushed exit after 12 years on the soap.

The admin assistant – who is played by actress Ellie Leach in the ITV soap – left Weatherfield with ex-boyfriend Jackson and their daughter Miley.

Faye Windass’ exit has not gone down well with fans

The character made a swift departure after deciding to move to Slough

After Jackson and Miley left to pack to leave, Faye was clearly distraught and trying to hide it.

Craig stunned her by telling her: “You don’t have to do this, pretending everything is OK. Maybe this will never be OK.

“Maybe you will never be happy with me. And one day you’ll look back and think ‘what if?’. But right now you have a choice.

“If you want to you can go with Miley and Jackson, you can be together.”

Faye tried to insist she loved Craig, clearly terrified that Craig would report her to the police, but he tried to get her to admit the truth.

He asked her: “Do you love me more than Jackson? If you stay with me, are you going to be settling for second best?”

As Faye insisted she would be happy with Craig, he wouldn’t hear of it and got her to admit how she really felt.

He said: “Maybe if you do go, you’ll be able to forgive me for everything I’ve ever done wrong.

“For trying to trap you. I never meant to hurt you, I didn’t want that. I just wanted to make you happy and this will make you happy. So go on, what are you waiting for? Get a move on.”

Faye rushed off to pack, before deciding to move her entire life last minute and surprising Jackson and Miley.

Saying an emotional goodbye to her dad Tim and Sally, Faye got in the car and drove off – only to stop for one last goodbye with Craig.

Hugging him she said: “I love you, I always will. Thank you for everything Craig Tinker.

“Thank you for all that we’ve been through and everything we’ve done together. I wouldn’t be the person that I am without you.”

However Faye didn’t even get the ending of the episode, and was just driven off mid-way through and fans have hit out at the soap for it.

One wrote: “I thought that Faye’s departures would be more melodramatic.”

A second said: “Crumbs not even a black cab for Faye.”

Another added: “Is it me or did Faye forget to resign from her job before departing or is she intending on commuting.”

Craig told Faye she should leave with Jackson and Miley

The character didn’t even get a send off at the end of Wednesday’s Corrie
