CORONATION Street legend Les Dennis has been hit with a storm of abuse over an I’m A Celebrity tweet.

The actor – who played Michael Rodwell in the ITV soap between 2014 and 2016 – made his opinion on former Health Secretary Matt Hancock being in the jungle very clear on social media.

Coronation Street legend Les Dennis says he’s come in for a “lot of abuse” after a tweet he posted about I’m A Celeb

The actor questioned Matt Hancock’s place in the jungle in a tweet

After watching an episode of I’m a Celebrity, Les, 69, took to Twitter to question how the MP was still on the show.

His post caused a lot of debate, and after receiving backlash, Les took to the platform again to have his say.

Les tweeted: “I’ve had a lot of abuse re my post about #imaceleb Lots of people calling me a has been and an ex celebrity.

“Like me those people are entitled to their opinions. I try not to criticise here and I considered deleting the tweet but I stand by it.

“I won’t be posting about the final.”

Last night Lioness Jill Scott was crowned queen of the jungle.

Hollyoaks star Owen Warner placed second, while Matt came in third.

It comes after Les shared his shock over how the politician managed to get so far in the show.

Les previously tweeted: “I’ve just finished watching tonight’s I’m a Celebrity. I am gobsmacked.

“Matt Hancock is still there??? WTF is going on?”

Matt’s arrival certainly left the rest of his campmates lost for words after he arrived as a late comer with Seann Walsh.

Viewers quickly dubbed I’m A Celeb “The Matt Show” after he faced six Bushtucker Trials in a row.

The public voted to punish him for his mismanagement during the pandemic and his rule-breaking affair with ex-aide Gina Coladangelo.

During his time in the jungle many of his co-stars quizzed the West Sussex MP about his time in Westminster, including Charlene White, 42, and Boy George, 61, Chris Moyles and Sue Cleaver.

However, he has appeared to win viewers over who were concerned he was being bullied at one point.

Others however were convinced it was a fix that he had made it so far in the competition.
