CORONATION Street has revealed a shocking exit for killer Stephen Reid.

The murderer – who is played by actor Todd Boyce in the ITV soap – narrowly avoided being outed as a killer by Teddy in last night’s episode

Stephen Reid is set to flee the UK

It comes after he tried to kill Teddy in hospital

Teddy was run down by a van as he went to expose Stephen for his son Leo’s disappearance.

Viewers know Stephen Reid killed Leo after the structural engineer discovered he is bankrupt and stealing from his own mother.

After hiding Leo’s body, Stephen got his phone and pretended to be Leo, texting Teddy to say he’s moved to Canada alone and didn’t want either him or Jenny contacting him.

It worked for a while – but then Teddy became too suspicious and flew to Canada to confront his son.

Realising Leo never arrived in Canada, Teddy returned to tell Jenny the news but Stephen got there first.

Teddy was then mowed down by a van and rushed to hospital to be put in an induced coma to save his life.

In tonight’s episode Stephen went to kill Teddy to silence him for good.

“Teddy, you in there,” he said whispering to the comatose man.

“This is the last thing on earth I want to do. I’m genuinely sorry for what I did to Leo. It was an accident. I panicked but anyway, here goes nothing, so long old pal.”

But as Stephen went to kill comatose Teddy, Jenny walked back in completely oblivious to the scene in front of her.

Instead she got him out of there so the doctors could check up on Teddy.

And back at the Rovers, she received good news that Teddy would likely survive.

It sent Stephen in a tailspin – until he got word from Six Guys about his moped crash and realised he could easily take them for a cash settlement.

They agreed to his demands of £10,000 by the end of play tomorrow – and Stephen then dropped the bombshell that he would be fleeing the country.

Fans are in shock at the news.

One wrote: “Damn looks like the scumbag Stephen’s gonna get away unless teddy wakes up.”

A second said: “We all heard that – bloody Stephen is leaving the UK for good – Happy New Year!!!”

Another added: “I really hope Stephen does leave!”
