CORONATION Street has delivered a last minute shock for 2022.
The ITV soap isn’t airing an episode of New Year’s Day this year but that doesn’t mean it will be lacking in drama.
Stephen faces being exposed after Teddy woke up
Teddy wakes up at the end of tonight’s episode
Instead tonight’s New Year’s Eve episode delivered a major shock that could spell disaster for Stephen Reid.
Viewers know the businessman is bankrupt, desperate and a killer – having murdered Leo Thompkins to keep his failures a secret.
After hiding Leo’s body, Stephen got his phone and pretended to be Leo, texting Teddy to say he’s moved to Canada alone and didn’t want either him or Jenny contacting him.
It worked for a while – but then Teddy became too suspicious and flew to Canada to confront his son.
Realising Leo never arrived in Canada, Teddy returned to tell Jenny the news but Stephen got there first.
Teddy was then mowed down by a van and rushed to hospital to be put in an induced coma to save his life.
Stephen decided to flee when he got the news that Teddy would most likely recover – and expose him as a killer.
But in tonight’s episode Jenny Connor was left distraught when she was told Teddy may not wake up.
Having changed his mind about fleeing the country, Stephen put a hold on the airline ticket he was set to buy.
But with him considering remaining in Weatherfield to rebuild his life, Stephen’s in for a shock.
In the closing moments of tonight’s episode Teddy was seen in his hospital bed.
And as the clock struck twelve, his eyes suddenly opened.
Will he expose Stephen for the killer he is?
