BERNIE Winter’s doppelganger Fern turned her life upside down by framing her for a robbery.

After struggling to prove her double’s existence, the Coronation Street character finally finds proof that could save her.

Bernie Winter has landed herself into plenty of trouble

She tries to find proof of her doppelganger Fern’s existence next week

And someone may be able to give it to her

Striking an unlikely friendship with Fern (portrayed by former Brookside actress Gabrielle Glaister), Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) frequently impersonated the newcomer.

But Fern’s antics eventually landed her into plenty of trouble when she was framed for a robbery.

To make matters worse, Bernie has had trouble proving she does have a doppelganger and it’s believed she’s making Fern up.

But this could all be about to change.

Coming up on ITV, Bernie opens a letter and is made aware of the date of her plea hearing.

She later tells Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) that she remains determined to track Fern down.

Pulling up outside a country club and impersonating Fern, Bernie tried to dupe the receptionist into revealing her double’s home address to no avail.

Another club member named Howard soon approaches her, wondering who she is.

Bernie makes out that she’s Fern Lindon but Howard doesn’t buy it.

It’s soon revealed that Howard knows more about Fern than Bernie does – she’s none other than his ex-wife.

A desperate Bernie explains to Howard that Fern framed her for a robbery and he’s not surprised.

According to him, Fern is a con artist.

Bernie begs him to help her, but will he go through with it?

Fern recently impersonated Bernie for a job interview with a high-end cleaning agency, which turned out to be successful.

The con artist left the owner completely convinced that she really was Bernie Winter with her tricks.

In later scenes, after she was left to lock up at the end of her first shift, Fern was left alone again in the jewellers.

This time, she took full advantage of the situation and robbed the shop.

Trouble immediately made its way back to Bernie as she headed to No.5 with Dev.

A police officer let her know that she was under arrest for theft.

The penny dropped for Bernie when she was shown CCTV footage showing Fern in her clothes, robbing the jewellers.

How will she get out of trouble and avoid prison?

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
