GEMMA Winter is humiliated when she falls fast asleep at playgroup with her quads in Coronation Street next week.

The ITV soap has confirmed that Gemma – who is played by actress Dolly-Rose Campbell – is set to face mental health issues as she’s bullied by the snobby mothers at the parent and baby group in coming weeks.

It’s been a tough ride for Gemma ever since her waters broke while stuck high up in a cable car over the Welsh seaside town Llandudno.

And things didn’t get any easier when Gemma was left to care for the four newborn babies following the traumatic birth.

Meanwhile, her and Chesney have also been struggling financially and their money problems worsened when they were recently sacked by Freshcos.

Gemma then had another blow when baby Aled was diagnosed with profound hearing loss in both ears, and was quick to blame herself for being a bad mother.

Next week’s episodes of Corrie will see things dramatically worsen for Gemma when she attends storytime at Speed Daal with the quads.

Disaster strikes when she’s so knackered she falls asleep, leaving the other mums to take care of her babies.

When Gemma wakes up with a start, she’s humiliated by what’s happened.

The leader of the session Vanessa snidely suggests getting some help, reinforcing Gemma’s fears that she’s a bad mum.

Later, Gemma leaves a voicemail for Bernie but can’t bring herself to ask for assistance and ends up making out that she’s just phoning for a chat.

Will Bernie return to come to Gemma’s rescue?

HOAR Online exclusively revealed this month that Corrie is set to explore Gemma’s mental health as she’s bullied by the cruel mums and session leader when she joins the baby group.

A source told us: “Gemma joins a new group for support, but it all goes wrong when she clashes with a few bitchy women.

“They really shame her and make her question herself – and the behaviour of some of the mums will kick start a new mental health storyline for Gemma and send her on a spiral.

“It’ll be really tough for her – and really relatable for a lot of parents.”

Corrie star Dolly-Rose Campbell has hinted that her mother Bernie could be returning to the soap to come to Gemma’s rescue in coming weeks.

Speaking to Digital Spy about Bernie’s comeback, Dolly-Rose replied: “That is exactly what she [Gemma] needs.

“Bernie knows her better than anyone and it is going to take someone close to her to recognise what she is going through and that this is more than just struggling with the babies, she does need real help to get through this.”
