Geoff manipulates Yasmeen into offending Cathy and losing yet another friend

Last week the ITV soap had fans rejoicing as Yasmeen finally stood up for herself and walked out on Geoff.

But as she headed to Alya’s to tell her the good news, Geoff drew her back by sending her a series of manipulative texts threatening to take his own life.

As Yasmeen hurried around the house looking for her husband, viewers saw Geoff watching her from the pub on the hidden video cameras in the house.

When he returned, he and Yasmeen appeared to put the past behind them.

But it soon became clear that Yasmeen still had her doubts about her husband as she sneaked upstairs and called the police about accessing information about Geoff’s past under Clare’s law.

Yasmeen has been having her doubts about abusive Geoff

Next week’s episodes of Coronation Street will see Geoff peruse Yasmeen’s pamphlet on domestic abuse.

Geoff is unsettled to see that the leaflet has a list of signs of controlling behaviour and realises he needs to ramp up his manipulation.

Later, Cathy comes round for a natter but Geoff manages to manipulate the situation so that Yasmeen ends up offending her.

Cathy storms out in a rage and Geoff tells Yasmeen she’s probably lost her as a friend forever.

Will Yasmeen ever manage to escape evil Geoff’s clutches?

Geoff has already isolated Yasmeen from her granddaughter Alya

Shelley King – who plays Yasmeen – spoke to Metro about her character’s vulnerability as Geoff continues to cut her off from her friends and family: “Yasmeen began as quite a bombastic, strong person but we will learn more about her.

“As you know, her husband left, her grandson has gone away and we find out more about him next week and Alya has her own life really.

“Yasmeen is alone in this country to an extent, she has alienated herself from her family for reasons we will learn and she is vulnerable.

“We will learn more about Geoff too – not to exonerate his actions but to try and look into explaining them or at least gaining some knowledge about that behaviour.”
